One yards weigh from 700lb-800lbs.depending on the plant it originates from. Different size nuggets cover different size areas. Our yard of mulch covers approximately:

1" depth covers 324 S.F
2" depth covers 162 S.F
3" depth covers 108 S.F
4" depth covers 81 S.F
5" depth covers 64 S.F
6" depth covers 54 S.F

Measure the area you are covering by length and width. Multiply length by width to get your square footage. Divide by depth of mulch to get your cubic yards needed. There is an average of 800lbs in a yard.

Example: Area to be mulched: 25' (L) x 30' (W) by 6"deep.
25'(L) x 30'(W) x .5 (D) = 375 divided by 27 = 14 cubic yards needed.

Example: Area to be mulched: 25' x 30' x 3"deep
25' (L) x 30' (W) x .25 (D)= 187.5 divided by 27 = 7.0 yards

Then, multiply the number of yards by 800 (800 lbs in a yard) to determine the number of lbs needed.
